InTravel Assistant
I was returning from Phoenix to Bangalore last week. While in the boarding line, air hostess was walking asking everyone to give a side to her and the elderly person with her. He looks like in mid 60's going to India (from kids probably). She dropped him near the flight and the other air hostess tried explaining him how to reach his seat. He was not able to understand the accent of her so puzzled on what to do. Luckily one air hostess know his language i.e. Telugu and explained him how to go. He went and sat but that scene created a spark in me.
I have travelled to US & Europe earlier. Every time i can see at least 1 or 2 elder people struggling with the flight connections, guidance on how to go where to go, what to eat while switching. There are fellow passengers but humans inner fear/shy/inhibitions not letting them help them. Here is what i felt that could help such,
While on international travels, I observed lot of elder people who are not aware of most of the flight checkins, transits, security check rules.
Idea is an app based system to help the needy elders.
When someone elder is flying child can request for assistance. We request airlines to have our advertise ours to make the passengers install. The people traveling in those flights will receive notifications of assistance requests. Interested can accept.
We can charge some amount from requesters and share some with the assisting people. They will get some amount for helping while traveling while the other party gets the need led help and can be sure that their parents are safe and assisted.
In some cases we will not have people traveling in same flight. We can request the people who will be in the respective airports that time to assist. This way can assist in most of the cases.
This can be extended to domestic and train journeys as well. Charged accordingly.
This way requesting party can save money i.e. they can avoid travel for pick up and drop . So they will be ok for paying a little.
ROI depends on no.of bookings as margin will be very less.
Information source would be mobile calendar as they will keep the journey info which is dependable. Maybe if not money, we can offer points to the assistant which they can redeem from stores such as world duty free etc in the airports.
It can be extended for luggage transfers as well. who has to send luggage to some place will book and who is interested in taking can accept and carry. quick and cheaper way to transfer than courier.
